Zehra Yilmaz

Zehra Yilmaz is a Ph.D. candidate in the International Relations Department of Ankara University, Turkey. She is also a research assistant in the same department. In her dissertation, she is studying Muslim women’s movements in Middle East. She analyzes the reconstruction of the global system and its effects on Middle East from a gender perspective.

Ms.Yilmaz received her B.A. degree from Baskent University, Political Science and International Relations Department in 2002. Her thesis subject was "Turkish Political Parties' View into Secularism."  In 2005, she earned a master's degree in political science from Ankara University, authoring a thesis, "Muslim Women Movement in Turkey after 28 February Coup." Her research interests are feminism, Islam, and the Middle East and postcolonial theory.
