Kamuran Gökdağ is an assistant researcher in the department of philosophy of Mardin Artuklu University, Mardin and was a visiting researcher at the Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding of Georgetown University during the 2015-2016 academic year. He is a PhD candidate of Islamic Philosophy at Istanbul University, Istanbul. His dissertation subject is “The Conception of Asabiyya in Ibn Khaldūn’s Political Thought”. He published an article, an encyclopedia entry, and several book reviews, several translations and editing works related to his field of study. The recent one is “Şeyhü’l-İşrâk’ın İzinde: İlk Dönem İşrâkî Şârihler” [On the Track of Shaykh al-Ishrāq: Illuminationist Commentators in the First Period], Istanbul: 2015. His academic interests include Islamic Philosophy, Political Philosophy, Social and Political Theory.
