Pg Dr Norhazlin Pg Haji Muhammad is currently a fulltime lecturer at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Centre for Islamic Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and a visiting researcher at ACMCU from March until May 2014. The title of her research is Islamic Studies in the West: A Comparative Study of Educational Approaches in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
She obtained her Master degree specialized in Islamic Education at the International Islamic University of Malaysia and completed her doctorate in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in the area of Educational Systems in Brunei Darussalam in the light of Al-Attas’ Philosophy of Education. Her publications include a book titled Islam and Western Philosophy of Education: A Comparative Study. She is currently leading a research project on child protection in the Islamic context. Dr Norhazlin was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom (2013). Her research was titled Transitional Learning of Islamic Studies in the West: Its Philosophy, Curriculum, and Challenges. Her recent article is titled Implementation of the “Integrated Education System” in Brunei Darussalam: Issues and Challenges.
