Dr. Yunus Kaplan is an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy and Religious Sciences department of Van Yuzuncu Yil University’s Faculty of Theology, Van and a Visiting Researcher at the Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding of Georgetown University. His research at Georgetown, titled as “A Comparative Analysis of the Practice of Justice: In the Case of the Ottoman and the United States”, is supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) for the period of 2017–18.
He received his PhD from Istanbul University’s Philosophy Department with an analysis of the justice at the Ottoman political thought. Dr. Kaplan is interested in Islamic philosophy, Ottoman political thought, Islamic political thought and Islamic ethics. He has taught courses on Islamic philosophy, philosophy of Islamic ethics, Ottoman thought and Islamic political thoughts.
