Title: The Ban: The Human Cost of Trump's Travel Ban

October 31st, 2018 – Filmmaker and Al Jazeera America journalist Laila Al-Arian presented her Emmy Award winning documentary, “The Ban: the human cost of Trump’s Travel Ban” at ACMCU in it’s entirety. This film follows two families in particular who’ve been deeply impacted by thier inabiility to travel to the United States during the hight of the Trump administration’s ban on refugees and immigrants from Muslim majority countries.

Prior to joining Fault Lines, Laila worked for AJE for four years, covering everything from Guantanamo Bayโ€™s youngest detainee to the re-settlement of Iraqi refugees in the U.S.

She received a BA in English literature from Georgetown University and an M.S. from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Her work has appeared in The Nation, Salon, The Independent, and other publications, and she is co-author of Collateral Damage: America’s War Against Iraqi Civilians.
