[Event] Religious Pluralism in Indonesia

ACMCU invites you to attend the following presentation on Wednesday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m., “Religious Pluralism in Indonesia,” featuring Fr. Hariawan Adji.

This talk will be on inter-religious relations in Indonesia. It will begin with a description of the religious and inter-religious situation in Indonesia, including a description of laws and government policies concerning religions and their practices. It will then provide an overview of recent inter-religious conflicts in Indonesia and discuss the efforts that have been taken by the government and society to resolve the conflicts. It will conclude with suggestions on how to transform the conflicts into mutual understanding and socio-cultural bonds.

Speaker

Fr. Hariawan Adji is a lecturer of the Faculty of Humanities of Airlangga State University in Surabaya, Indonesia. He has a Ph.D. in Inter-religious Studies from the Indonesian Consortium of Religious Studies in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Fr. Hari also serves as the Secretary of Carmelite NGO, an organization affiliated to the UN Department of Public Information. As a Carmelite priest, he serves as the Vice Prior Provincial of the Indonesian Province of the Carmelite Order. Fr. Hari also serves as the Director of Perkumpulan Darma Laksana (Indonesian Carmelite NGO) which works on the grassroots level in Indonesia.
